What? And what for?

Realism and idealism are two distinct ways to approach life and its problems. Both have their own pros and cons. When applied to various aspects of a given problem, most of the time, both yield unique results or lead to conclusions that are mutually exclusive in all respects.

The media preach realism when it comes to policy, foriegn affairs and international relations as viewed in the context of history. The media preach idealism when it comes to entertainment and lifestyle as handed down by the show-biz.

I wonder why.
